사월은 가장 잔인한 달
죽은 땅에서 라일락을 키워내고
기억과 욕망을 뒤섞고
봄비로 잠든 뿌리를 뒤흔든다.
겨울은 따뜻했었다.
대지를 망각의 눈으로 덮어주고
가냘픈 목숨을 마른 구근으로 먹여 살려 주었다.

April is the cruellest month, breeding
Liacs out of the dead land, mixing
Memory and desire, stirring
Dull roots with spring rain
Winter kept us warm, covering
Earth in forgetful snow, feeding
A little life with dired tubers.
